The 1st XI had a season to remember in 2025/26!
Finishing with 10 wins and sitting on top of the ladder at seasons end, it marked a level of success the side had not experienced for many years. A brilliant run of seven straight wins heading into finals set the tone, before the boys secured a home semi-final victory against Doncaster to book a place in the grand final. Although they fell 37 runs short, it was a performance full of fight, belief and character.
To go from second last on the ladder to a grand final is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the growth, commitment and confidence that built across the season. Every player bought into the team-first mindset, and that unity became one of the group’s greatest strengths.
The inclusions of Marcus Adams and Michael De Kauwe proved instrumental. As captain-coach, Marcus brought outstanding experience, leadership and class, helping galvanise a young group and giving them belief in their ability. He also led from the front with the bat, scoring 578 runs, including a brilliant 146 against Park Orchards. MDK brought energy, intent and competitiveness every week, taking 31 wickets to top both the competition and club bowling averages.
The season also saw several players make their 1st XI debuts, with Lucas Leggio, John Dinneen, Jack Dinneen, Jordan Moll and Daniel Martino all making strong impressions. Each stepped up superbly and showed they belong at the level.
Across the season, there were standout contributions everywhere. Lachlan Sticca took his game to another level, piling on runs with a century and multiple fifties. The Pataki brothers were consistently important with both bat and ball, while Oliver’s five-wicket haul in the grand final was a special highlight. Michael Winsall-Corsello continued to grow into a genuine force, Nick Gioskos’ return added valuable leadership, and strong contributions also came from Hamish McClean, Matthew Agrotis, Murphy Moore and Josh Toop.
This season was a monumental step forward for the 1st XI! More importantly, it build belief, in each other and as a group and what we can achieve!
What a season, what a group!
Go Bullants!
