Thank you to our leaving committee members

June 15, 2024

Dear Bullant members,

On Monday 20th May, the Club had its annual AGM.

Previous correspondence has highlighted the new Committee. We are excited about the forthcoming 2024/2025 season and have started to plan for it. In the coming weeks and months, we will share more important information.

The purpose of this email is to recognise and thank the contribution of members that will no longer be serving on the Committee.

Jesse McInnes has been the Club Coach for the past 3 seasons. The Club thanks Jesse for his support and guidance of our junior and senior playing group. We are grateful for his efforts to prepare pre-season programs and to nurture our young playing group. Under his tenure, the Club won 4 premierships that included 1st XI 21/22, 4th XI 22/23, U16 21/22 and Senior Women 22/23. We wish Jesse all the best as he ventures to coach at Balwyn Cricket Club.

Josh Briffa was a General Committee Member last season. He supported the Club on and off the field with his enthusiasm, fun and caring nature. His infectious banter with players, on and off the field, and his support running the bar is recognised and appreciated.

Stephen Hannah took over the challenging position of Club Membership and Community Representative. The Club thanks Stephen for updating the Club’s social media pages and sending out important notifications throughout the season. We also appreciated his willingness to work behind the bar and helping around the Club when things needed to be done.

John Dinneen was a General Committee Member last season. His depth of experience in several administrative roles in the ECA Association has been instrumental in creating a Player Welfare and Behaviour Code of Conduct. John will continue to support the Club in this role next season.

Clayton Howard has been the Junior Co-ordinator for the past 5 years. This is one of the most important roles in a club. He has helped nurture young players and support junior coaches and families who commenced their journey with The Bullants. The Club thanks Clayton, for his tireless efforts to encourage young players to play cricket. Under his tenure as Junior Coordinator, we have seen many players begin their cricket journey in the juniors and continue on to play senior cricket.

At this stage, the role of Junior Co-ordinator has not yet been filled. It is hoped that someone will put up their hand to fulfil this important role at the club for the 24/25 season.

Jordan Moll has been the Club Secretary for this past season and has done an outstanding job. As a 19-year-old, straight out of Year 12, he took on the role as secretary with enthusiasm and determination. This role at a club is incredibly complex and involves countless hours of work. Jordan went to numerous Box Hill District Reporter Cricket Association meetings and managed the challenging task of organising player permits and team sheets each week. He also jumped behind the bar and helped organise and manage the Reverse Raffle and many other Club functions. The Club thanks Jordan, who has graciously helped the new Committee transition into the next season.

Ross Moll had the important task of managing the Club’s finances as Treasurer. This complex task required Ross to set up and manage player registrations and oversee the daily flow of bills and incidentals that arose during, and outside, the season. Ross also helped around the club when it was needed. He worked behind the bar, supported the young wicket keepers, and captained the thirds to a second straight Grand Final. The Club thanks Ross for providing a smooth transition, in this handover period, and assisting the Club in its quest to secure a new coach.

Andrew Grainger has been the Club President for the past 5 seasons. He stood up during a difficult time in the Club’s history when there was a great transition and many long-standing players and Committee members had time away from the Club due to family life commitments. He was also Secretary for 2 seasons prior to this, and a General Committee member for a season. His service and commitment to our club is recognised. Andew has often gone above and beyond, and sacrificed much of his own family time, for the club’s benefit. Andrew’s 8 season club sponsorship by Forbes Grainger Financial has been an important investment in the club’s survival. The Club thanks Andrew for his generosity, commitment and tireless work in helping make the Bullants a great place to be.

On behalf of the Club. I thank the members of the Committee who are stepping aside this year, and acknowledge their commitment, hard work, sacrifice, and passion for the Bullants. I hope you all stay, in some way, connected to our Club and continue to play an important role in making it a great place to play, grow, learn, and laugh.

Go Bullants!

Kind regards,

David McClean
